Secure access for the Court of Trieste
The project of a COVID-19-proof access control system in a high-traffic facility
To manage the flow of a large number of internal and external people, some corporations need to equip themselves with customized access control systems. This happens with public administration buildings and large companies, where the focus on access security goes along with a careful choice of turnstiles and other accessories. Value and limits of the buildings involved and the need for installations in outdoor spaces are also to be considered.
These are complexes projects requiring careful analysis and constant customer support, from site survey to installation, commissioning and after-sales service.
The context
The Trieste Court house is located in the Palace of Justice in Trieste, a building built between 1895 and 1929, including 400 courtrooms. The palace houses several entities, including the Court of Appeals, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a police station, the notary archive and other offices.
The building has four levels and presents decorative columns and some monumental statues of particular value. The remarkable beauty of the premises has led several film production companies requesting its use for shooting and setting up scenes.
For security reasons mainly, there was a need to monitor the flow of a large number of people in the facility in real-time, as well as to identify, also in real-time, those entering and exiting the courthouse.
The needs
First, the client requested a complete solution for access control of external people visiting the facility every day.
Following the COVID-19 emergency and the Prime Ministerial Decrees (DCPM), there was also a need to fight the spread of the pandemic within the Public Prosecutor’s Office premises. This included temperature measurement at the entrance and the adaptation of the entire previously installed solution.
The solution
The GoPlanner Access modules (for access control) and GoPlanner Visitors (for visitor management) were selected and installed.
The flexible side of the GoPlanner suite served as the foundation for building a customized solution.
After analysing the characteristics of the building, our experts, along with the assistance of industry technicians, we installed two access control gates.
The outcome
The client could immediately see the benefits of the new access control system, especially when managing external visitors, also considering the new measures against the pandemic. Both access points, elegant and high-quality turnstiles and terminals equipped with state-of-the-art technology were installed.
The thermal camera on the turnstiles allowed access only to individuals with a temperature below 37.5°C and wearing a mask.
The client was supported during all steps of the project, including the after-sales phase. Thanks to the constant work of our research and development department, our clients use always up-to-date softwares.
